What's the difference between insurance and risk management?
Risk management is broader than insurance and uses multiple tools to manage risk. Insurance is one of those tools.
With insurance, you buy a policy from a carrier, who in turn takes on the risk for you. With risk management, insurance may not be the answer. We look at risk management through 10 impact areas, including insurance, employee benefits and retention, safety, business exit planning and more.
What is an "independent" agency?
An independent agency, like Ellerbrock-Norris, isn't tied to one specific insurance carrier, meaning we work with multiple providers to get you the best coverage or best deal based on your needs.
It allows us to be a go-between for you and the insurance carrier, and helps us to sit on your side of the table when claims arise.
What is a risk advisor?
A risk advisor at Ellerbrock-Norris is your concierge to managing risks within your business and your personal life. They will sit down with you and help you uncover the risks you face, then you'll decide how to best manage each of those risks. Our risk advisors can help connect you with specialists in commercial insurance, personal lines of insurance, employee benefits, company safety programs, business exit planning and more. If we don't offer a service in-house, we can help you find attorneys, financial advisors, specialists and more to help ensure you can protect your purpose.

Can you quote an insurance policy for me?
We'd be happy to get a quote for you – but keep in mind we aren't a typical insurance agency. We'd prefer to take you through our full process to evaluate and manage risk, which we call ENCORE (Ellerbrock-Norris Comprehensive Ongoing Risk Evaluation).
We do this for two reasons:
1. We don't want to sell you an insurance product if it's not the right answer for your situation.
2. We want to make sure any insurance policy you purchase is the right match for your needs, which often takes a deeper discussion.
What if I currently have business insurance but still want to work with you?
That's OK!
You'll go through our ENCORE process and we'll see where we fit in for your risk management plan. Sometimes that means we will take over your insurance program as what's known as a "broker of record," we might quote your policy entirely, or we may not take over your insurance program at all.
It's all about what's right for you and your unique situation.
